  1. Ben Zvi, Izhak 1884-1963. Israeli politician,
  2. president 1952-63. He was born in Atpoltava,
  3. Russia, and became active in the Zionist
  4. movement in Ukraine. In 1907 he went to
  5. Palestine but was deported in 1915 with Ben
  6. Gurion. They served in the Jewish Legion
  7. under Gen Allenby, who commanded the British
  8. forces in the Middle East.
